Robert's Recovery
Hi All!

Thanks for visiting our website.

This page has been created for Robert Lockwood and his progress
recovering from a stroke that happened November 30, 2006.
We have been asked
to create a place to
accept donations,
so I added this page
to my current website.

If you would like to
make a donation,

Thank you for your
generosity - God
bless you!
8/23/07:   hey!  We are doing fine... Rob's days are pretty much the same day in day
out... get up, watch tv, go to bed... we really need to concentrate on exercising more...
but everyday holds something new for me or the kids... so its hard to get in to a routine.
Rob's last rehab session was last week - due to a cap from medicaid.  The next thing we
are looking into is the vocational rehab for Rob... this is training and services provided by
social security to get him back in the work force. I'm supposed to be researching
different networks to help us.

Otherwise, just trying to stay cool on these very hot days!  I don't know how anyone
works outside in this heat!  My business is starting to pick up, have one client I've
worked for in the past and an interview on Tues. to work for a Realtor and a closing
attorney - wish me luck!

7/12/07:  I know its been a while... good news and bad news...we finally got approved for
disability, BUT they will only pay back to May... we will get some supplemental but only
small amount... i had intended to be able to pay my mother back for all the support she
has given us in the past few months... so, i guess it will be a little at a time instead of one
big payment.  we will at least be able to take care of the basics... the kids will be getting
some of the benefits as well, so that will help... the down side to all this is that DeFaCS
will most likely cut off the food stamps we were getting and the health insurance for me
will stop.  Rob will now have federal medicaid and the kids will still qualify.  I did finally get
my vision checked and should have glasses in the next week or so.  So if i can make it to
the dentist before the end of my medicaid, that would be good.

My business has shown some recent activity... a few inquiries of what i do and how i
provide it... one of my old Realtor friends wants to start up her own brokerage... so i will
help with that.  This will help some... unfortunately she is a bit scattered so who knows
when we will get started.

I wanted to thank those of you who donated to our second yard sale... it wasn't as much
as the first one... but it helped when we needed it.  We will probably have another one at
my mom's house (across the street), she needs to unpack some more things stored in
her garage and then we will be able to have her garage sale.

I hope all of you are well... we really appreciate all your love and prayers you have sent
our way.  We have truly been blessed by all your support.

6/6/07: I have been out of reach the past week due to transferring my cell phone
number to a new company... sorry if any of you tried to call ... it is back on now!!

I have received another yard sale donation... so i think we can plan to have another
yard sale mid June.  so if you guys have anything to donate, let me know...

Rob is doing fine... lots of problems with medicaid approving things... he has a kidney ct
tomorrow to make sure things are functioning, before checking his bladder functions.
anyway... we attempted to go to a rehab session today and were turned away because
medicaid has not approved the session prior to going.  I checked on the disability claim
and they said they got the doctor's report in and now it goes to their staff neurologists
and then gets approved or denied... hopefully APPROVED!  The medical bills from
Dec/Jan are starting to go to collections... so i guess i need to start calling them to let
them know where we stand in this approval process.  Such red tape!, its driving me
crazy!!

but other than all that headache... Rob is really easy going... he doesn't ask for much,
just feed him and give him the remote and he is fine.

Leila seems to think we are supposed to go to a pool everyday now that school's out... i
am going to have to nip that in the bud... yeah right!  I guess we have been getting out a
lot, Rob is able to stay home for a few hours at a time and Evan helps out when i know i
will be gone longer.

Anyway... Just checking in... chat with you guys later!

5/2/07:  Okay the Yard Sale is ON!!  We have had a few donations - so hopefully we will
have a good turn out.

We will also be celebrating our 7th anniversary that afternoon and into the evening with
a cookout with some Mexican thrown in for Cinco de Mayo!  If anyone can make it - we
welcome you.  Bring some meat to put on the grill and BYOB if you plan to really
celebrate!  If you need directions, please call.

Rob's Mom is leaving this weekend... one of her friends from Interlachen will be coming
up to drive her home.  We will miss her!!

Rob had a doctor appointment on Monday... the doctor will be sending him to more
physical therapy - so we are excited to hear what goals they expect to get achieve.  So
we can get Rob back to focusing on building the strength in his right side.  Personally I
would love to just be able to get him in the van!  So many times he is disappointed that
the cant go with us.

Hopefully we will see some of you on Saturday! Have a great weekend!

4/28/07:  Okay, i did not get the yard sale together for this wknd... so most definitely next
wknd.  i have a couple of people bringing items, but could use more... hopefully with
better notice we can have a good turnout.

Special Thanks to Ann Margaret for bringing (personal) items for Rob from her church -
We appreciate all you have done to help us through this! and to your church for keeping
us in the prayer request.

Thanks to Angie Roper out in Arizona for forwarding my request for yard sale items to
her friends here... Robin called to say she had some things - Thank you so much!

Special Thanks go out to Atlanta Poker Club for putting together a benefit poker
tournement... Jeffreys and APC are working on the exact date... i will update you guys
when we have firm plans.

Thanks to all of you that have kept us in your prayers!  I am trying to keep the faith that
God will provide for us in our time of need.  Keep us in your prayers!

4/22/07:  Well, Rob has been home a little over 2 weeks... he is doing fine, and I'm
hanging in there.  We could stand to be a little more scheduled, but we are doing good.
Rob is not too demanding... I just transfer him from his bed to the wheelchair and back
to the bed later.  I have to change his clothes (and other things) each morning, he gets
up has a little breakfast, takes his meds, watches tv... then we make something for
lunch, take more meds, i try to do some exercising of his right arm, watch more tv, eat
dinner, take more meds.  Transfer back to bed, change clothes, take more meds... and
then we start over the next day.

His spirits seem to be up most of the time... occasionally he thinks about the fact that he
is in a wheelchair and gets a bit emotional... but we just encourage him that he will get
better and that hopefully it is not permanent.  I have applied for medicaid now that i am
no longer receiving unemployment - so this should open more doors for in-home care,
more rehab sessions, transportation to doctor appointments, etc.  He needs to have
some tests done, so we have to wait until i have been approved and then search for a
new doctor and line up the appointment he was supposed have this past week, but due
to no transportation, was unable to keep.

Some friends and Jeffrey's are trying to put together a benefit soon, possibly a bike run
or a poker tournament... I'll keep you posted.

Entry 4/11/07:  Robert is home now - one week today- and is doing fine.  We were
blessed with Gwinnett Medical stepping up and taking care of Rob's prescriptions and
in-home care visits.  I know the prescriptions had to be over $1000 and we truly
appreciated Phyllis McCarthy and everything she has lined up for us.  We are still in
need of some other items, I'm sure will come about some how.  Rob is eating well and
working with the in-home therapist to continue his rehabilitation.  We also do some
exercises ourselves thanks to the education Warm Springs provided.  I am no longer
receiving unemployment, so I have an appointment with DeFACs to get adult medicaid
for Rob (and myself).  This should open up more in-home care visits as well as
transportation to doctor appointments and out-patient rehab.  Hopefully disability will get
approved soon.
